After Surat, emission trading scheme starts in Ahmedabad

The state of Gujarat, India has launched its second emissions trading scheme (ETS), announced its minister of tourism, forest and environment and climate change, Mulubhai Bera. Following the success of a 2019 pilot programme in Surat, developed in collaboration by Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), whose founders Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee are Nobel laureates in economics, Chicago University and Yale University in association with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), a new scheme has been implemented in Ahmedabad, where 188 industries will be covered.
