BRUVS Monaco

The Blue Abacus baited remote underwater video system (BRUVS) is a pioneering technology used to film, count and analyse populations of fish and other marine species.

BRUVS technology was deployed, both inside and outside Monaco’s marine protected area (MPA) in Larvotto, to monitor biodiversity and marine life.

The valuable information harvested by BRUVS has underpinned ongoing marine wildlife management and is an important step towards rebuilding Mediterranean fish populations.

This project marks one of the first times BRUVS technology has been deployed in the Mediterranean Sea.
