Culture's healing power: Time to scale up | World Cities Culture Summit 2024

The Jameel Arts & Health Lab participates in the 2024 World Cities Culture Summit in Dubai, where city leaders explore the challenges that global cities face and share opportunities for culture to play a leading role in their response.

In Culture's healing power: Time to scale up, Cléa Daridan, head of arts and culture at Community Jameel, represents the Jameel Arts & Health Lab in a challenge session alongside Jacqueline Rose, senior manager of culture, Creative Industries and 24 Hour London, and Viktoriia Mukha, chairman of the committee on culture, Kyiv City Council, to tackle the question of how to scale up successful projects at the intersection of culture and health.

This session features the announcement of the Jameel Arts & Health Lab's forthcoming evaluation of Healing Arts Scotland, the world's first nationwide festival celebrating and advocating for improved physical, mental and social health through the arts, and the release of a preliminary report highlighting the policy impact of the festival, which was produced in collaboration with Scottish Ballet and took place as part of the Edinburgh International Festival in August 2024.

In a second session, entitled The future of… data: Proving culture’s value through evidence, speakers explore the use of data and evaluation to make the case for sustained support on culture. Cléa Daridan is joined by Bruno Truzzi, senior data analyst, Itaú Foudation, and Ekatarina Travkina, co-ordinator of culture, creative industries and global events, Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development.
