Frank Schilbach (J-PAL) is the co-author of an MIT study concluding that more sleep doesn’t necessarily have positive outcomes, reports The Brighter Side.
Despite finding that sleeping for 30 minutes longer every night had no effect on productivity, earnings, financial decision-making, wellbeing, energy levels or health, researchers discovered that participants who napped performed better in several measured categories.
Schilbach explained: “In contrast to the night sleep intervention, we find clear evidence of naps improving a range of outcomes, including their productivity, their cognitive function and their psychological wellbeing, as well as some evidence on savings.”
