The Jameel Observatory-CREWSnet developed a new tool to model the number of “outdoor days” - with comfortable temperatures for outdoor activities – and found that southern states in the United States will lose a significant number of outdoor days, reports MIT News. Professor Elfatih Eltahir explains that the work was inspired by the realisation that “people’s understanding of climate change is based on the assumption that climate change is something that’s going to happen sometime in the future and going to happen to someone else. It’s not going to impact them directly. And I think that contributes to the fact that we are not doing enough.”
