His Majesty King Charles III visited the Centre for Injury Studies at Imperial College London on 19 February 2025, highlighting the vital link between research and humanitarian efforts.
With Community Jameel’s support, the centre’s specialist paediatric blast injury unit is helping improve medical care for Palestinian children wounded by explosive weapons in Gaza.
Launched in March 2023, the Centre for Paediatric Blast Injury Studies, part of the Centre for Injury Studies, is a collaboration between Imperial and Save the Children.
The world’s first research hub for treating and better understanding child blast injuries, the centre brings together medics, engineers, pain specialists, operational humanitarians and prosthetics and rehabilitation experts.
Our support for the centre was announced in December 2023 and is part of a package of support to Save the Children for the Gaza emergency.
This includes funding to deliver urgent medical care to Palestinian mothers and newborn babies evacuated to Egypt from Gaza, training clinical staff to provide specialist treatment and care for up to 100,000 children injured by explosive weapons in Gaza, and distributing 2,000 Paediatric Blast Injury Field Manuals to frontline health workers responding to the emergency.
The Centre for Injury Studies, and the Centre for Paediatric Blast Injury Studies, are directed by Professor Anthony Bull, who introduced His Majesty The King to the centre's work.
Located at Imperial's White City, the Centre for Injury Studies is situated in the Sir Michael Uren Hub, next to the School of Public Health that houses the Jameel Institute.
